I was picking up a pizza when a jolly old man with a fluffy white beard walked in wearing a familiar red and white suit. No, it wasn’t a random homeless person (at least I don’t think so)…It was Santa Claus!

As fun as that is, that’s not the story.

The story is what he said to me.

Santa walked over to me, placing his hand on my shoulder, saying “Oh my, you’ve grown so much since I last saw you.”

This of course prompted me to reply, “When did you last see me?”

Santa paused, with a curious look in his eye. “Well now, you used to be so little”, he said.

I curiously thought to myself, “If he visits me every year, I would hope he knows that I’ve grown”, seeing that I’ve been as tall as I am since I was like 15.

So I asked him a critical question…

How tall was I last year?

Trying to change the subject, he asked, “Have you been naughty or nice this year?”

I said, “You should know that, shouldn’t you?”

He said, “Yes, yes. You’re right, I do know. Have a Merry Christmas.”

He then turned and walked out, going to the next business in the strip mall.

There was a girl by me who overheard the conversation. She commented to me how funny she thought the conversation was. I explained that I wasn’t trying to be funny. I was totally serious.

I’m worried about the guy. He IS pretty old, so could it be Santa is getting Alzheimer’s disease?

Could he be experiencing oxygen deprivation from flying at such high altitudes?

Maybe he’s just getting forgetful.

Regardless, I believe this is a legitimate concern.

If anyone else has experienced this, or anything similar, please let me know.
